The Associação Portuguesa de Apostas e Jogos Online (APAJO) promised to work with the signatories of the proposal and limit the amount of money offered to entities that refuse to follow the rules.
APAJO signed a memorandum of understanding to reduce advertising on sites that infringe copyright.
This memorandum, sponsored by the European Commission, aims to combat copyright infringement. In question, the identification of online domains that transmit or pirate content, without a license to do so. By taking action against such entities online, the memo signers will immediately limit the money that copyright infringers receive.
As outlined by the commission, APAJO will thus join 29 other partners, such as the Portuguese Association of Advertisers (APAN), who are already working to put an end to all types of advertising on piracy and illegal streaming sites.
APAJO and the other signatories will therefore work to promote best practices, as well as to develop initiatives and actions that improve intellectual property rights (IPR) practices.
The memo, so far, has been a success. In particular, raising awareness of the fact that companies' online advertisements may be placed on sites that illegally disseminate copyrighted content.
